Passion For Working On Cases That Involve Neglect or Abuse At Care Facilities | Giancarlo Cellini |
Video Description
Probably one of the things that I like the best about my job is that we tend to get a lot of facility cases. And there’s a really symbolic reason for me personally that I like working on those cases. And I share this, I’m sure, with a lot of parents. And that is you have to first ask yourself the question of who are the residents of the facilities. Well, they’re the elderly, right? The infirm, they’re children, they’re people who all fall under one category, and that’s vulnerable, right? These are people who are the most vulnerable members of our population. So, for us, if we are purporting to be the Davids that go against the Goliaths, right? The Goliaths being the insurance companies, the major corporations, the conglomerates, trucking companies, the Walmarts, this and that. Well, how can we say that that’s what we do without going to bat for the most vulnerable members of our society? The children, the infirm, the elderly, the disabled people like that, who more than anything were betrayed, right? People who put their trust and their hard-earned money and their time and their effort into finding this facility that has, I’m sure has a website that says, we’re the best facility in the whole place for dementia or for children or for something like that, and we have, you know, all this great staff. Then, come to find out, using an example that we’re going through right now. Somebody allows an elderly
woman with dementia to get up and walk through the halls and end up blocking herself in a walk-in freezer overnight. It’s to me facility cases embody the ultimate betrayal against a population that deserves the most attention and trust.
