PHOENIX — In a tragic incident on Sunday afternoon, a 1-year-old boy was fatally injured after being run over by an SUV in a Phoenix neighborhood, the local police reported.

Phoenix Police Department officials indicated that the call about the accident came in around 3 p.m. from the area near 45th Street and Broadway Road. When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered family members of the young boy, identified as Legend Hayes, administering medical attention to him.

Police officers took over providing emergency care until paramedics from the fire department took over. The child was subsequently transported to a hospital, but despite the medical team’s efforts, he succumbed to his injuries.

According to eyewitness accounts, the SUV involved in the accident was driven by a relative of Hayes. Investigators found that the driver had sighted the child inside the residence prior to moving the SUV and unfortunately struck him while maneuvering the vehicle within the property. The specific circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated by the authorities.

At this time, no arrests have been connected to the incident, and officials have not released any details about potential charges. The investigation into the precise cause of the accident and the sequence of events that led to this heart-rending outcome is still underway.
